Nun Kun Deluxe Camp at Shargol (Mulbekh)

Mulbekh (3230 mts) situated on Srinagar- Leh national highway, 35 km from Kargil towards Leh is widely known for its 9 metre long Chamba statue (rock carved Sculpture of Maitreya Buddha.) This statue dates back to 1st century BC during the Kushan period.
Another major attraction of Mulbekh is its monastery or Gompa perched atop a rocky cliff which dominates the valley. Mulbekh monastery consists of two gompas, one Drukpa and one Gelugpa Buddhist monastery.

Activities at Camp:

A day trek from Mulbak to Phokar Urgain Zong
With packed lunch from the camp, one can trek to Phokar Urgain Zong where you can see lots of meditation caves. The trek can of 3-4 hrs up and down.
 
Visit to the Monastery:
Perched atop a rocky cliff, Mulbek Gompa (monastery) dominates the valley. Like all Buddhists monasteries it is adorned by frescoes and statues. You can also venture into an interesting hill top village known as wakha Rgyal. The village seems like a medieval settlement of cave dwellings.
